Is being easily pleased a good thing? Yes, here’s 8 reasons why.
Being easily pleased might be considered as having a lack of dreams or motivation but often the opposite it true.
It is about understanding yourself enough to work out what brings you joy and having the courage to stay true to that.
I think being easily pleased is a self-confidence super power. In a world that tells us bigger is better and more means success, finding contentment in simple joy is a bold place to stand.
If you ask yourself what do you truly want in life, I am guessing being happy is somewhere pretty high on your list.
But how do you achieve happiness?
That’s the tricky question.
Happiness comes in all different shapes and sizes. Family, career, spirituality, money, adventure, home, education.
The problem is, when you attach your happiness to a big goal (that promotion, a private school place for your children, that beautiful new home) you are always in a state of waiting.
Waiting to be happy.
I have fallen into this trap many times. Waiting to finish university, waiting to travel, waiting to move overseas, waiting to move home. It was only after some thorough introspection and pinpointing what makes me happy that I came to this understanding.
The good things in life are those that bring the simplest daily joy. This is where true happiness lies.
How does being easily pleased make you happier?
There are many things in my day that make me happy.
Eating my bowl of hot oatmeal reading a book under a blanket in the morning. Finding a few moments of peace in the full on parenting days to sit in my garden. Taking a walk in the woods with my boys. Watching the autumn leaves dance across the road. Having my hair cut twice a year. Having a coffee and a long chat with a friend.
I am not waiting for an elaborate meal in an expensive restaurant or counting down the hours to that luxury holiday to be happy.
Happiness finds me every single day.

Being easily pleased should not be confused with a lack of goals and dreams. It is, in fact, the opposite. When you are easily pleased you have won the lottery. How lucky you are to find pure joy in the simple things that already exist in your life.
Can you have dreams as an easily pleased person?
Of course you can.
Being easily pleased does not mean you can’t have goals. You just know how to separate the wheat from the chaff. You understand yourself enough to know what is a worthwhile goal.
You can even find happiness in the work you are doing to achieve a bigger dream. Instead of seeing the journey as a barrier to be overcome, you find pleasure in those small steps of achievement. Life becomes one big opportunity for happiness and joy, not a challenge to win in order to reach your goal.

I am most definitely easily pleased and am totally ok with that. I love when things make me happy!
Nice to hear.
I really love this post, Amanda! I recently realized that every season is my favorite: I love the slower pace of summer, the renewed energy of fall, the coziness of winter, and the freshness of spring. There’s always something to love. A few of my favorites right now: my first cup of tea in the morning (that’s a perennial favorite), opening windows on these late spring days when the weather is perfect, filling my watering can and watering my new potted plants–Mother’s Day gifts from my husband and children and cuttings from my mom’s garden that she brought last time she visited. I’m waiting to see what they’ll do. What a thrill when they finally show sparks of life!
Oooo a fellow gardener. Yes I love the seasons too actually. Something joyful to be found it each one.
I really enjoyed this post and the reminder to be pleased a bit more easily. The always waiting part really resonated with me. I feel like I’m always looking forward instead of appreciating where I am now. Thank you for this thoughtful post.
